Figurengruppe (Vater, Mutter und Kind), Keramik, ocker und grün glasiert. Sockelplatte repariert. Bezeichnet: lioba michel. 60x42,5x32,5.
Hildegard Michaelis wird 1900 in Erfurt geboren. Sie beginnt 1924 ein Studium an der Staatlichen Kunstgewerbeschule am Lerchenfeld (heute: Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg), wo sie das Brettchenweben erlernt, aber keinen Abschluss macht. Sie kommt auch mit dem Bauhaus in Berührung. 1927 konvertiert sie zum Katholizismus und gründet in Holland ein eigenes Kloster, das 1936 zum Prioriat und 1952 zur Abtei erhoben wird. 1958 entsteht ein Tochterkloster in Orselina/CH. Hildegards künstlerischer Schwerpunkt liegt auf der textilen Kunst (Weben und Batik) und auf dem Erschaffen von Skulpturen. Glaube, Kunst und Kunstfertigkeit bilden denn auch die Grundlagen ihrer täglichen Existenz und die ihrer Klöster.
