Anfangs oszillierte das Werk des französisch-tschechischen Künstlers Josef Sima zwischen einem eher kruden Fauvismus und einem vom Surrealismus inspirierten Kubismus, der jedoch mit der Zeit immer abstrakter wurde. Das hier angebotene Werk „Lumière“ ist ein beispielhaftes Werk dieser letzten Schaffensperiode. Es besteht aus leichten Strichen und manchmal leuchtenden Farben, die den Zuschauer in ein meditatives Leben weitab von der hektischen Aussenwelt einladen. Es lässt in gewisser Weise auch seine Tätigkeit in einem Atelier für Glasmalerei erkennen, wo er am Anfang seiner Karriere das Handwerk erlernte, zu dem er aber später wieder zurückkehrte und die Fenster für den Chor der Kirche Saint-Jacques in Reims gestaltete.
