Information for Buyers
During viewing days, objects can be examined in detail. Catalogue descriptions were written to the best of conscience and belief. No liability shall be incurred for the details given. Condition, age, authenticity, ascription to an artist or an era, identification, signatures and dates, and possible imperfections or restorations must be examined by the prospective buyer. We refer to our Auction Terms & Conditions, particularly article 6 and 6a. The description and photos of every auction item is available on our website www.schulerauktionen.ch. The Art Loss Register (ALR) checks every auction lot with an estimate of CHF 2'000.- or above.
A buyer’s premium is added to the hammer price of each lot sold:
– Up to CHF 10’000.– 25 % plus VAT
– From CHF 10’001.– to CHF 500'000.- 20 % plus VAT
– From CHF 500’001.–15 % plus VAT
– These rates also apply to online bids.
The applicable buyer’s premium (%) is calculated on the hammer price of each individual lot and applies to bids placed in the saleroom during the live auction as well as to absentee and telephone bids submitted directly through Schuler Auktionen.
For lots purchased through an online bidding platform, the applicable buyer’s premium is increased by 3 percentage points.
VAT is payable by the buyer on the buyer’s premium. The buyer’s premium applies equally to trade and private buyers.
Lots marked with an * (asterisk) are subject to VAT in full; for such lots, VAT is calculated on the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium.
Payment may be made by bank transfer, debit card (EC/PC card), or in cash in Swiss francs or Euros. Credit card and PayPal payments are available upon request and are subject to an additional 4% fee. For security and transparency reasons, invoice amounts exceeding CHF 10,000 must be paid by bank transfer.
Purchases not collected within two weeks of the end of the auction will, due to space constraints and without prior notice, be transferred to storage with the transport company Seiler (Brauerstrasse 55, 8004 Zurich, T +41 44 242 19 19) at the buyer’s expense. Storage will be charged at CHF 5 per lot per day.
Shipping orders are handled by our trusted partner, AVS. Please note that international shipments may be subject to import VAT, customs duties and other charges levied by the country of destination. All such taxes, duties and charges are the sole responsibility of the recipient.
