Gegenstücke. "Arkadische Landschaft" und "Waldlandschaft mit Fichtenforst und Hirtenstaffage". Gouachen auf Papier. Je ca. 30x41 cm. Gerahmt. - Beide mit breitem schwarzem Rand. Leicht berieben.
Provenienz:
Aus dem Nachlass Heinrich Angst (1847–1922), erster Direktor des Landesmuseums (1892–1903). Hch. Angst war massgeblich an der Kampagne beteiligt, welche 1890 zur Errichtung des Schweiz. Landesmuseums und 1891 zum Entscheid für dessen Standort in Zürich führte.
In einigen Details abgeänderte, noch zeitgenössische Repliken nach Gessners-Originalen heute in der Graph. Sammlung München (vgl. Bircher/ Weber, 1982, Nr.124) und in der Hamburger Kunsthalle (vgl. Ausstellungskatalog Idyllen, 2010, Nr.149 noch als Schweizer Privatbesitz). Wahrscheinlich Arbeiten eines direkten Schülers von S. Gessner.
