Aus: "Famine Series". 1953. Tusche auf Papier auf Karton montiert. Unten rechts signiert und datiert. Blattgrösse 55x38,2 cm. Gerahmt. -Blatt leicht gebräunt. Blatt mit wenigen Knittern. Rückkarton mit Knitter. Ecken und Ränder bestossen. Braunfleckig. Leicht schmutzig. Blatt wurde in Plastikfolie gepackt.
Die wohl eindrucksvollsten Werke Abedins waren jene aus der „Famine Series“. In dieser Serie zeichnete er die vor Hunger sterbenden Menschen am Strassenrand. So dokumentierte er die Hungersnot von seiner dunklen Seite mit skelettartigen Figuren, die dem Tod ins Auge schauten. Auf diese Weise konnte er die inhumane Geschichte seines Landes mit menschlichen Emotionen zum Ausdruck bringen. Das bestärkte auch die eigens hergestellte Tinte aus verbrannter Kohle mit der er auf einfachem Packpapier malte.
