Die (in der Folge nicht unwidersprochene) Zuschreibung an Francesco Zuccharelli wurde 1959 von Hermann Voss im Zusammenhang mit Ankauf des Blattes durch Kurt Meissner vorgenommen, der das Reitermotiv dann sogar als Signet seiner Galerie verwendete.
