705. Gottesmutter Unerwartete Freude
Russisch, um 1800. Tempera über Kreidegrund auf Holz. Auf der rechten Hälfte des vertieften Mittelfelds wundertätige Gottesmutter-Ikone über weissem Schriftfeld. Vor ihr kniet ein reumütiger Sünder, der das Angelus betet. Darüber ist derselbe Sünder wiedergegeben, vor dessen Augen das angebetete heilige Bild lebendig wird. 2 Randheilige. Schutzengel (links) bzw. Hl. Aquilina (rechts). 35x30,5 cm.
- Kleine Schad- und Fehlstellen, v.a. randlich. Minimale Farbverluste.
Der Bildtyp geht auf die erbauliche Erzählung des hl. Dmitri, Bischof von Rostow (1651–1709) zurück. Es handelt von einem Sünder, der ungeachtet seiner Missetaten, mehrmals am Tag vor der Ikone der Gottesmutter den Angelus betete. Eines Tages, als er vorhatte, eine besonders verwerfliche Tat zu begehen, sah er das heilige Bild lebendig werden. Aus der Seite und von den Händen des Jesuskindes floss wie aus den Wunden des Gekreuzigten das Blut. Der Anfang dieser Legende ist auf dem Schriftfeld festgehalten.
