Einfühlsames Bildnis einer alternden Bürgersfrau mit schlichtem weissem Kopfputz, bei welchem die natürliche emotionale Bindung des Künstlers, die sehr deutlich in seiner Korrespondenz zu Tage kommt, nur sehr verhalten mitspielt (“meine Mutter [war] eine stille, sanfte immer thätige Frau“ so Führich in seiner Autobiographie [Lebenskizze. Wien/ Pest, 1875]; Führichs Korrespondenz vgl. Briefe aus Italien an seine Eltern. Freiburg i. Br. 1883). Joseph v. Führich kam als eines von zwölf Kindern eines Flachmalers und Vergolders aus einfachen Verhältnissen und auch als er später, nach Studien an der Prager Akademie (1819-23) und Studienaufenthalt in Rom (1827-29) in Wien als Professor an der Akademie zu Ehren kam und sogar geadelt wurde (1861), wurde er auch als Ritter von Führich nicht zum „Malerfürsten“ sondern blieb ein ernsthafter „Theologe mit dem Stifte.“
