Apoll schindet Marsyas (recto) / Studie eines männlichen Rückenaktes (verso). Schwarze Kreide, weiss gehöht, auf graublauem Bütten. 21,7x29,5 cm. - Auf Papier mit angeschnittenem WZ "Lilie im Kreis". - Minimal fleckig. In den Ecken die Rückstände einer früheren Befestigung mit Klebestreifen.
Die rasche, flüssige Skizze des Marsyas greift sehr direkt auf die dramatische Komposition Jus. de Riberas von 1637 zurück (heute in Museo di Capodimonte, Neapel), welche zwar ausserhalb von Neapel (hier u.a. z.B. Luca Giordano, um 1660, ebenfalls in Capodimonte) kaum Nachahmer fand, doch durch Giovanni Batt. Langetti (1635-1676) nach Venedig vermittelt wurde (ehem. Gemäldegalerie Dresden, seit 1945 vermisst) und noch um 1750 in Kupferstich reproduziert wurde (Kupferstich von Lorenzo Zucchi in: Recueil d’estampes...de la Galerie Royale de Dresde, Dresden 1753ff.).
