Beim Maler des hier angebotenen Werkes könnte es sich um ein Mitglied der grossen und produktiven Werkstatt Willem van Herps handeln. Da die Künstler stark auf die Nachfrage der Auftraggeber eingingen, ist es nicht erstaunlich, dass wir verschiedene Versionen derselben Komposition mit unterschiedlicher Qualität finden. Das wohl originale Gemälde von Willem van Herp befindet sich in der Liebfrauenkathedrale in Antwerpen.
