566. "Papagei" der patrizischen Bogenschützengesellschaft der Stadt Bern
19.Jh. Körper aus Holz, detailreich geschnitzt und polychrom gefasst. Einsteckbare Flügel und Schwanzfeder aus Blech, Innenseite mit farbiger Feder-Bemalung. Zwischen den Krallenfüssen vertiefte Tülle. L 58 cm.
- Altersspuren. Kleine Schad- und Fehlstellen.
Jährlich anfangs Mai schiessen die Mitglieder der Gesellschaft mit ihren Pfeilbogen auf einen Papagei, der nach einem Vorbild aus dem 17.Jh. immer wieder neu angefertigt wird. Wer den Vogel zuerst trifft, kann ihn behalten, erhält die Königswürde und führt ein Jahr lang die Geschicke der sehr exklusiven Gesellschaft mit ihren maximal 30 Mitgliedern. Zum Dank lädt die neue Majestät die Bogenschützen zu einem opulenten Mahl im Gesellschaftshaus ein. Die Bogenschützengesellschaft besteht heute noch.
