* 1128. Seltene Figurengruppe der Zanabazar Schule: Begtse Dharmapala mit Rikpay Lhamo und Laihansorogdog
Mongolei, 18.Jh. Bronze mit Teilbemalung und -vergoldung. Sehr seltene Figurengruppe mit dem zentralasiatischen Kriegsgott und seinen beiden Begleitern. Erhaltungsmängel. Begtse steht auf Lotussockel, sein rechtes Bein gebeugt, sein linkes ausgestreckt. Er hat seine drei Augen weit aufgerissenen und den Mund geöffnet mit wütendem Gesichtsausdruck. Gesicht, Haare und Hände mit Resten roter Bemalung. Er steht auf einem Pferd und auf einer menschlichen Figur, welche auf dem Sockel liegen. Begtse trägt die Krone aus fünf Schädeln und ein Kranz aus frisch abgeschlagenen Köpfen sowie ein mit Halbedelsteinen besetztes Band auf der Brust. Seine rechte Hand schwingt das Schwert mit Skorpiongriff, seine linke Hand hält das Herz der Feinde sowie einen Bogen (Bogensehne fehlt). Mit Verschluss. H 26,5 cm. / Rikpay Lhamo, die Gemahlin von Begtse, mit rotem Gesicht und nacktem Körper auf einem Bären reitend. Der Bär wiederum kaut den Arm des Toten, auf dem er draufsteht. Sie hält Phurba und Vajra. H 19 cm. / Laihansorogdog in Rüstung sitzt auf einem Wolf und hält eine Fahne. H 29 cm.
1128. Begtse Dharmapala with Rikpay Lhamo and Laihansorondog
MONGOLIA, ZANABAZAR SCHOOL, 18TH CENTURY
Bronze partially gilt and painted. A very rare Zanabazar figure group of Begtse, one of the ten wrathful war Deities and his companions. Begtse stands on a lotus base and steps on two corpses, a horse and a human figure, lying on the base. He has three wide-open eyes and an angry countenance on his face. His face, hair and hands are with traces of a red painting. Begtse wears the crown of five skulls, armor, garland of fresh severed heads and with semi-precious gemstone decorated belt on his chest. His right hand brandishes the scorpion-handled sword, his left hand holds the heart of sinners and the bow (the bowstring misses). With shutter. Height 26.5 cm (10,45 inches).
Rikpay Lhamo, Begtse`s consort has a red face, naked body and rides on her bear who is standing and chewing on a corpse. She holds Phurba and Vajra. Height 19 cm (7.5 inches).
Laihansorogdog (mongol.), the Red Master of Life in his armor, holding the war-banner and rides the wolf who standing on a corpse. Height 29 cm (11.4 inches). Provenience: Collection A. Altangerel, Mongolia.
