Der äusserst rührige Lyoner Verleger Guillaume Rouillé (ca.1518–1589) publizierte, zusammen mit seinem Geschäftspartner Macé Bonhomme, seit 1548 verschiedene, auch landessprachliche (lat., ital., span., franz., engl.) Versionen von Alciatis Emblemata für die er einen neuen Illustrationensatz herstellen liess (Pierre Eskrich?). Auch die französische Übersetzung von Barthélémy Aneau (?–1561) erschien 1549 mit allen 165 Holzschnitten und wurde 1564, praktisch unverändert, nachgedruckt.
