20.Jh. Metallguss. Gewölbte Ovalform. Nachbildung eines Prunkschilds, das 1867 von Léonard Morel-Ladeuil für die Weltausstellung in Paris geschaffen wurde. H 81 cm.
Das Schild ist mit figürlichen Szenen aus John Miltons (1608–1674) Gedicht „Paradise Lost“ verziert. Das Medaillon in der Mitte zeigt nicht etwa die Vertreibung aus dem Paradies, sondern die Begegnung des Erzengels Raphael mit Adam und Eva. Das, was der Engel dem ersten Menschenpaar mitteilt, ist auf den zwei seitlichen Ovalfeldern dargestellt: Es sind Szenen aus dem Höllensturz, dem Kampf der guten Engel gegen die Mächte Luzifers.
