Smith&Wesson, USA, um 1870. "American No. 3". Kipplauf, Kal. 44, sechsschüssige Trommel mit Ausstosser. Holzschalengriff. L ca. 33,5 cm.

Der Smith & Wesson Model No 3 war der erste Revolver mit einem abkippbaren Lauf und einem mechanischen Auswurf der abgeschossenen Hülsen. Er war auch der erste grosskalibrige Revolver, der ab 1870 von der Firma Smith & Wesson hergestellt wurde. Er ersetzte die ersten von der Firma hergestellten Patronenrevolver mit aufklappbarem Lauf und loser Trommel, den Smith & Wesson No 1.
