Provenienz: Schweizer Privatbesitz.
Die Figur mit ausgestrecktem Arm geht auf die Radierung "Zwei sitzende Soldaten" von Salvatore Rosa zurück. Ferguson war vor allem für seine dunklen, atmosphärischen Capriccio-Kompositionen klassischer Ruinen bekannt. Vgl.
