René Paresce näherte sich dem Thema des Stilllebens sowohl im postkubistischen als auch im klassischen Stil. Beispiele für postkubistische Werke finden sich in der Sammlung von Lux Guyer, der berühmten Zürcher Architektin sowie Freundin und Förderin von Paresce. Der eher klassische Stil ist im hier angebotenen Gemälde auszumachen: In diesem Werk beweist sich Paresce als Meister der Farbe, indem er kontrastreiche Töne verwendet und es wagt, die Grün- und Rottöne der Äpfel neben die intensiven Rosatöne der Blumen zu setzen.
