Portrait von Carl Wilhelm Müller, Advokat und Bürgermeister von Leipzig. Öl auf Leinwand, um 1766. 75,5x61,5 cm. - Doubliert und mit Retuschen. Einige minimale Kratzspuren.
Carl Wilhelm Müller (1728–1801), Advokat, Stadtrichter und seit 1778 regierender Bürgermeister von Leipzig. Vielseitig interessiert, förderte er das Kirchen- und Schulwesen, veranlasste die Garten- und Promenadenanlagen auf dem ehemaligen Befestigungsgürtel und den Bau des 1780 erbauten Konzertsaals im alten Gewandhaus.
Provenienz:
- Sammlung Gustav von Crayen, Leipzig/Luzern bis 1928
- Arthur Meiner, Leipzig (1865–1952), erworben 1928, verblieb nach seinem Tod in der Familie und wurde von seiner Witwe Hertha Meiner als Leihgabe dem Museum der Bildenden Künste überlassen.
