- Geschnitten und doubliert. Kleinere Farbverluste im Randbereich. Firnis an gewissen Stellen erblindet.
Mit einer ausführlichen Expertise von Dr. Matthias Kunze, Weissenhorn, April 2022. Das Gemälde wird in einem vom Verfasser geplanten Nachtrag zum Werkverzeichnis des Künstlers aufgenommen.

Nach der Einschätzung von Dr. Matthias Kunze handelt es sich bei dem vorliegenden Gemälde um eines der beiden „grosszügig honorierten“ Bilder, die Daniel Seiter dem Grossherzog von Toskana, Cosimo III. de Medici, während seines Aufenthalts in Florenz geliefert hatte. Als eines der beiden Bilder konnte das 1680 datierte Gemälde „Antiochus und Stratonice“ in der Art Gallery of Toronto bestimmt werden (vgl. Kunze 2000, G 61). Das hier angebotene Gemälde gilt als das passende Gegenstück: Mit der thematischen Zusammengehörigkeit der beiden gleichgrossen Gemälden korrespondiert auch eine enge stilistische Verwandtschaft.
