Der damalige Leiter des deutschen Lyzeums in Stockholm Joh. Wilhelm Schmidt reiste zusammen mit dem schwedischen Maler Carl Gustav Gillberg (1774–1855) 1799 von Stockholm bis in das südliche Lappland. Seine Beschreibung der Landschaft und der Lappländer, ihrer Bräuche und Lebensgewohnheiten, wird von Aquatintas von C. Krel nach den Reiseaquarellen von Gillberg illustriert (Landschaften, Ortsansichten, aber auch das Innere einer lappländischen Hütte oder Lappländisches Lager). 15.
