1020. Harnischbrust
Italien, Mailand, wohl um 1550-1570. Aufwändigst plastisch getriebenes Element einer Renaissance-Prunkrüstung "all´ antica" . Aus alterspatiniertem Eisen mit effektvoll sparsam gesetzten Glanzlichtern in Form von Gold- und Silbertauschierungen gefertigt. Im Zentralfeld ist ein Kampf zwischen vier Berittenen dargestellt. Unter dem Halsausschnitt das Profilporträt eines behelmten Kriegers, wohl des Mars, flankiert von zwei geflügelten Genien, Jupiter/Zeus und Venus(?), bzw. Allegorien auf Sonne und Mond. Unter dem Zentralfeld eine bärtige, ausgemergelte Gottheit, Saturn/Kronos vor zwei Sensen; flankiert von zwei Flussgöttern. Auf dem Bauchreif sind Drachen und florale Ranken wiedergegeben. Die geschnürlte Zier der Brechränder ist einfach ausgeführt. Rückseite mit komplett erhaltener Belederung und Resten einer Bemalung/Beschriftung in fragilem Zustand. H ca. 55 cm, B ca. 40 cm. Die Erhaltung der Belederung auf der Rückseite spricht für eine Überlieferung unter idealen Bedingungen. Ein meisterhaft gefertigtes Stück. Hier erscheinen eingehendere Studien angebracht.
